September 16 at 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Join the Bangor Historical Society for our next virtual Zoom presentation on Thursday, September 16th at 4pm our presenters will be Liz Ashe & Ronda Savage who will discussing “Walking the Old Veazie Railroad.”
Ashe and Savage, two local history buffs, researched the history of the second earliest railroad in the United States; The Bangor, Old Town and Milford Railroad aka Veazie Railroad. It ran from Bangor to Milford from 1836-1869.
Ashe and Savage heavily explored and photographed the entire 12 mile stretch of land between Bangor and Milford that was once the route of this railroad. They have put together photographs, maps, satellite photos and lots of information to share with you about this historical railroad.
You will also see how to spot signs of it today and learn what the line meant to Bangor…and beyond.
Ronda is a specialist in the mental health field in Bangor and Liz is retired professional speaker and corporate trainer. They met a few years ago on the “You Knew You Grew Up In Bangor When…” Facebook Page and have been exploring parts of Bangor and the surrounding area ever since.
