The Bangor Historical Society presents the true tale of Bangor native Mary Alden Hopkins, told by her descendant, Dr. Bill Hopkins on Thursday, August 4 at 6pm in the historic Isaac Farrar Mansion.
Mary’s story is inspiring and fascinating–and one you won’t forget.
Born and raised in Bangor, the only daughter of an orphaned girl from a prominent family, she would create her own legacy as a feminist, suffragette, journalist and author–all before 1930.
Dr. Hopkins has done extensive historical and genealogical research to unravel the story of his ancestor. His presentation tells the tales of a Bangor family torn apart by the Civil War and illness and the woman who, a generation later, created her own legacy.
