About the Penny Farthing

The first machine to be called a “bicycle”, the penny-farthing is distinguished by its large front wheel and much smaller rear wheel.  also known as a high wheel, high wheeler and ordinary, is a type of bicycle with a large front wheel and a much smaller rear wheel. This type of design was first seen around 1869 and was popular until the 1880s.
